Recently in car news it was announced that Yorozu Corp., an automotive supplier based in Yokohama, Japan, will invest more than $100 million in a facility to be located in Jasper Industrial Park in Jasper, Alabama, and it is expected to create 300 jobs. The facility will be an advanced metal stamping facility providing suspensions and other components to various auto assembly plants, according to a news article at Yellow Hammer news.
It is expected that construction of the Jasper site will begin by January of next year, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2017. July 2017 is the projected start date for production at the plant. Jasper is a prime location because of its location between Memphis and Birmingham on I-22, and because it is a town that is quickly becoming a hub for auto supplies. Currently, Jasper is the home of Nitto Denko, a Honda supplies facility, and HTNA, manufacturers of interior trim, carpet, and other components for Toyota, Honda and other automakers.
As buyers of used cars in Honolulu, we are excited to see the auto industry prospering, and additional jobs being created all around the U.S. Detroit may be “motor city,” but the auto industry is certainly expanding to other areas today – good for the economy and great for those looking for solid employment opportunities.
