The auto industry is no exception, and recently several vehicle were awarded with distinct honors as winners of the prestigious 2016 Green Car Awards.

In the SUV sector, the Honda HR-V earned the 2016 Green SUV of the Year™. The totally redesigned Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid topped the field as the 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year™, and in the luxury sector, the XC90 T8, new from Volvo, took home the title of 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year™.
Who were the runners up? In the Connected Green Car category, the Toyota Prius, BMW 330e, Volvo XC90 T8, and Audi A3 e-tron were honored. The Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz C350e, Lexus RX 450h, and BMW x5 xDrive40e were top finalists in the Luxury Green category. As far as green SUV’s go, finalists included the Mazda CX-3, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson, and the BMW X1 XDrive 28i.
According to Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com, the winners in the three categories are exceptional vehicles that set a benchmark for the auto industry in terms of the environment and our future, while being efficient and desirable to consumers.
