At CarMark Hawaii, we buy used cars for cash, including Hyundais and Fords. If you’re in the market to sell your car in Honolulu and get some much-needed cash on the spot, count on our team of professionals for unmatched service and a stress-free experience!

Because we deal with vehicles day in and day out, we thought it would be interesting to compare the 2015 Ford Fusion and Hyundai Elantra, because they’re similar in size and appearance. Here’s what we found.

In terms of price, the 2015 Ford Fusion 4-door Sedan S FWD lists for just under $21,000, while the Elantra 4-door Sedan Manual SE lists for just over $16,700. That’s quite a price difference, but what are the differences in terms of gas mileage, crash test ratings, cargo area, etc.?

The Fusion is estimated to get 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, while the Elantra is said to get 27 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.

According to The Car Connection (TCC), the Fusion offers stunning good looks and comfortable interior space along with good handling, while the Elantra offers a “snappy” style that makes a statement, but inferior handling in terms of the steering feel. With the Elantra, tight back-seat headroom is one drawback for owners.

Both of these mid-size sedans can accommodate five, and cargo area dimensions are similar, with the Fusion offering 16 square feet of space, and the Elantra 14.8 square feet. Both offer 4-wheel brake ABS systems and rack-pinion steering. The Fusion has a larger fuel tank capacity, at 16.5 gallons versus 12.8 for the Elantra.

Both vehicles offer front wheel drive; the Fusion has a base curb weight of 3,431 lbs., while the Elantra’s base weight is 2,773 lbs.

While the Fusion looks to be the more expensive option, the Elantra has its advantages, particularly when it comes to fuel efficiency.
